Simultaneous Microwave Dielectric Spectroscopy and Neutron Diffraction Measurements of Ammonia Dynamics in Halide Salts

DOI

Ammonia has been proposed as a high density chemical energy-storage media, which can be safely and reversible stored within low cost saline halides. Here we propose to extend our previous studies on the structural and dielectric properties of ammine halide salts to include variable temperature. In this way we will be able to investigate the dynamics of both exothermic absorption and endothermic desorption. We now request 2 days on POLARIS so that our modified sample environment system may be tested in-situ and to collect simultaneous structural, dielectric and mass spectroscopy data on saline halide materials under variable temperature.
