Anketa o kadrovskem potencialu (AKP) je stekla kot razvojno-raziskovalni projekt leta 1989 v okviru Inštituta za sociologijo. Naloga raziskovalne skupine je bila razviti instrumente in metode za redno spremljanje dogajanj na trgu dela oziroma področju zaposlovanja, ki naj bi bili prilagojeni standardom Evropske unije. Od leta 1995 se raziskava imenuje Anketa o delovni sili (ADS). Raziskava daje mednarodno primerljive kazalnike stanja in sprememb na slovenskem trgu dela in je tudi bogat vir podatkov o položaju posameznika na tem trgu. Zagotavlja podatke, potrebne za odločanje o gospodarskih in socialnih vprašanjih v Sloveniji.
The project was launched in 1989 as developmentally-research project at Institute of Sociology. Resarch group's goal was to develop instruments and methods for regular monitoring of occurrings on the labour market or on the field of hiring. The Labour Force Survey is a unique source of articulated information using international definitions of employment and unemployment and economic inactivity, together with a wide range of related topics such as occupation, training, hours of work and personal characteristics of household members aged 15 and over.
