eDNA metabarcoding read counts correlate to fish biomass/abundance

Read counts from eDNA metabarcoding accurately reflect fish abundance in fishery holding ponds with known fish biomass and number of individuals. Our findings also demonstrate that flexibility in eDNA capture and preservation methods provide repeatable qualitative and quantitative information on fish diversity, population size and biomass in small lentic systems with high fish density.
