The study population consisted of individuals who were tested in one of the publicly funded SARS-CoV-2 testing facilities affiliated with the Public Health Service (PHS) of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from June 1st 2020 through August 31st 2021. From June 1st 2020, every person who had symptoms suggestive of a SARS-CoV-2 infection could request a test by phone or online via the test request application. Since December 1st 2020, close contacts of SARS-CoV-2 infected cases who have not developed symptoms within five days after their last exposure could request a test as well. Symptoms are self-reported. The outcome, SARS-CoV-2 infection yes/no is a laboratory confirmed diagnosis. The dataset belongs to the research article "Self-reported symptoms as predictors of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the general population living in the Amsterdam region, the Netherlands" published in Plos One.
