May-June 2023 California Current Pressure In Situ Gas Instrument (PIGI) Data

DOI

Continuous underway measurements of dissolved oxygen and nitrogen were collected during the 2023 Phytoplankton UPwelling response cycle (PUPCYCLE) II expedition from May 27 - June 12, 2023 onboard the R/V Sally Ride. The cruise transited between Newport, OR and San Francisco, CA. Seawater was delivered via the ship's underway seawater supply line (intake depth close to 5m) and passed through a custom-built Pressure In Situ Gas Instrument (PIGI). The PIGI contains an oxygen optode (Aanderaa) paired with a gas tension device. Nitrogen concentrations are derived from the difference between total dissolved gas pressure and oxygen pressure measurements.
