Hapalochlaena maculosa Genome sequencing and assembly

This project sequenced and annotated the genome of the southern blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena maculosa) with the aim of understanding the evolution of this unique genus relative to other octopod species. Members of the Hapalochlaena genus are easily identified from their aposematic blue lines and rings and are the only octopods known to sequester tetrodotoxin (TTX) within their tissues and venom.
