Real-time infra-red monitoring of green roofs with an AMG8833 IR Thermal Camera

DOI

We use an Adafruit AMG8833 IR Thermal Camera Breakout to continually measure surface temperature on green roofs. The actual sensor is a Panasonic 8x8 array of IR thermal individual inputs, so that you can make a 64 pixels map. This resolution is not great for thermal maps, but is enough to distinguish between different constructive solutions like ceramic tiles, substrate or vegetation, and it provides a sweet spot between expensive thermal cameras and individual IR sensors.
