Raw data from a series of experiments aimed to develop a bench-scale process of solid-state fermentation (SSF) to produce biostimulants (indole-3-acetic acid-IAA) by Trichoderma harzianum, utilizing green waste as substrate.

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Grup de Recerca en Compostatge (GICOM). The experiments was involved Solid state fermentation (SSF) at bench scale using Trichoderma harzianum as inoculum and green waste (grass clipping) as substrate.
The effect of wood chips and pruning waste as bulking agent was studied. A sequential batch experiment consisting 4 consecuitive experiments was also performed.
*Description of methods used for collection-generation of data:
Single batch fermentation and sequential batch fermentation was conducted in 22L packed bed reactor. The green waste was inoculated by Trichoderma harzianum and the fermentation lasted 3 days.
The total wet eight of material loaded in the reactor was 4 kg. The material aerated with the airflow of 1000 mL/min
10 g of solid samples taken from the reactor was mixed with 50 mL Tween 80 solution (0.1%) in Erlenemeye fasks. After 30 min agitation, the liquid phase used for spore and IAA analysis.
*Methods for processing the data:
-Bio pesticide measured as conidial spores of Trichoderma which counted using a Neubauer Chamber and microscope.
-IAA was quantified by HPLC-UV.
-Oxygen consumption was measured as specific oxygen uptake rate (sOUR) using a system developed by the group
*Instruments, calibration and standards information:
- Neubauer chamber (Brand™ 717805)
- Optical microscope (Olympus BH2)
- Oxygen sensors (Alphasense, UK)
- Mass flowmeter (Bronkhorst, Netherlands)
- Temperature sensors (Thermochron iButton device, Maxim Integrated, U.S)
- HPLC Dionex Ultimate 3000 (Dionex, Idstein, Germany)
- HPlc column LC Kinetex® 5 µm EVO C18 100 Å (250 × 4.6 mm)
*Environmental or experimental conditions:
- Tichpderma harzianum CECT 2929 was cryopreserved at -80°C.
- Microorganism cultured in malt extrat agar at room temperature for 6-8 days.
- Fermentations was conducted in 22 L packed bed reactor for 3 days at room temperature.
*Quality-assurance procedures performed on the data:
From each fermentation, two samples were taken from different parts of the reactor.
The analysis of IAA and spores was carried out in triplicate from each samples.
