The Northern Ireland Health and Activity Survey was undertaken to study the determinants of physical activity and fitness in relation to health, with particular emphasis on coronary heart disease in Northern Ireland. The survey had the following specific objectives: to establish profiles of physical activity and fitness in the population of Northern Ireland; to study relationships between physical activity and physical fitness; to examine relationships between physical activity, physical fitness, lipids, lipoproteins and apolipoproteins.
