The purpose of present SJM survey is to evaluate the proposal of the new Slovene constitution, how informed people are with, and what opinions do they have about the relations with the federal constitution and the topics such as private property, elections and humane rights. These data, replicating portions of ISSP85 and repeating in ISSP96 (see also ADP - IDNo: ISSPSJ89 and ADP - IDNo: SJM954) report citizen's opinions on the functions of their national governments and on what governments should and should not be doing. Specific topics deal with evaluation of the socio-economic and political situation; attitudes towards and perceptions of political pluralism; opinions about the communist alliance and political opposition in Slovenia; political efficacy; trust in political leadership; party preference and membership; knowledge about parties; voting intention before first democratic elections; opinions about preparations for independence, the future of socialism and; evaluations of democratic changes. All standard socio-demografic data included: sex, age, education, region, size of household, income of the respondent and his household, employment status.
