PNR study on the exchange bias propagation in the FM/AFM/FM trilayer with a thick AFM

DOI

Today, a number of technological devices, such as the readout sensor in the hard disc drive, have used the exchange bias (EB) effect, which arises in a ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic (FM/AFM) bilayer. From both the fundamental and application interests, the study of EB effect in the FM/AFM/FM trilayer can be used to reveal the moment’s structure of AFM layers and origin of the EB effect itself. Although it is found that the interlayer coupling seems arise across the AFM layers in such trilayer on the basis of the EB studies in the past decade, some issues such as the exist of EB propagation is still not fully understood, partially due to the lack of the knowledge of magnetic structure and the related interlayer coupling across the AFM layer. In this proposal, we wish to understand the magnetic structure of the biased trilayer as a function of the AFM thickness.
