Monitoring Packing Changes in Magnetic Halogenated Phthalocyanine Molecules

DOI

The way that small molecules pack together can have substantial ramifications on the observed physical properties, reactivity, and device characteristics, even if the molecule being packed is structurally identical. This is true in a number of fields of organic chemistry, including pharmaceuticals and organic semiconductors, the latter of which is the subject of this proposal. We aim to demonstrate the ability of the pair distribution function to identify details of molecular packing and short-range magnetic interactions in some manganese phthalocyanine molecules.
