Cryopreservation of liver transplant cells

DOI

Development of new cryopreservation strategies has major potential in medicine and agriculture, and is critical to the conservation of endangered species that currently cannot be preserved. Recently we have applied for IRIS Express 1690294 to study cryopreserved alginate-encapsulated liver cell spheroids used in artificial liver bio-transplant using high-resolution QENS spectroscopy. The results of the IRIS Express QUENS measurement have shown visible difference between the sample prepared according to cryopreservation temperature protocol and the same sample but quench cooled in liquid Nitrogen. In order to reproduce and obtain a higher quality data we propose QENS measurements of cryopreserved alginate-encapsulated liver cell spheroids sample in temperature range 80 – 350K. These data could allow us to understand better the processes that happen in this biological system.
