INS study of the exchange couplings and magnetic anisotropies in Ni(II), Mn(II) and Mn(III) polynuclear complexes.

DOI

SQUID magnetometry is the first and most trivial step when studying magnetic systems. However reliable conclusions can only be made in cases of very simple systems. When the suggested magnetic models become overcomplicated we are required to employ additional techniques to fully understand them. In this experiment we intend to study magnetic excitations between the low lying states of a series of polynuclear transition metal clusters. We wish to quantify the magnitude of magnetic exchange between the magnetic centers as well as comprehend the nature of the magnetic anisotropy of the systems.
