An exploratory effort to further characterize the microbial community present in raw samples from oil and gas industry environments susceptible to biocorrosion, as well as in laboratory cultures using these raw samples as inoculum. This characterization was carried out at a metagenomic level, with the purpose of: (1) determining the composition of the microbial community in raw samples (2) determine how much of the biodiversity present in the raw samples is recovered in their respective laboratory cultures and (3) indicate parameters that may be correlated with the occurrence of biocorrosion and that could be included in diagnostic and monitoring protocols.
