Microalgal microbiome sequencing with three host species and four DNA extraction protocols

This study characterizes the microbiomes of three species of microalgae in lab culture with four DNA extraction protocols. Host species are Isochrysis galbana, Tetraselmis suecica, and Conticribra weissflogii, and microbiomes were separated in attached and free-living fractions by filtration on 5 and 0.2 mikron filters. DNA extraction protocols are a phenol-chloroform protocol, and the commercial kits Nucleospin Tissue Kit, DNeasy PowerWater Kit, and DNeasy PowerSoil Kit.
