Pressure-induced transformations of marine snow during an experimentally simulated descent to the deep ocean

To determine the effect of hydrostatic pressure on microbial community composition, we simulated the descent of artificial marine snow particles from the ocean surface down to hadal depths (10000m) and monitored the succession of microbial communities via 16S rRNA sequencing.
