De novo whole genome sequencing of B.subtilis strain Natto3, a poly-?-glutamic acid producer

B.subtilis strain Natto3, isolated from a Japanese dish “natto” produces poly-?-glutamic acid (PGA) in fermentation medium supplemented with glucose and glutamic acid. In our previous studies, this strain showed a distinct expression pattern of genes present in the pgs operon. Based on this observation, we decided to carry out the whole genome sequencing of the B.subtilis strain Natto3 to gain further insights into the genetic make-up of PGA biosynthetic and related genes in this strain.
