This proposal seeks to explore a multiferroic material new to science, that of the antiferroelectric ¿ antiferromagnetic ceramic Bi0.8Nd0.2FeO3. This new class of material is of significant scientific important, with multiferroic ordering at room temperature. Key objectives of this experiment are to (1) accurately determine the nature of the oxygen sub-lattice, (2) determine the extent of the antiferroelectric - antiferromagnetic region and most importantly (3) probe for coupling mechanisms between the two ferroic orders from the refinement of data collected at a range of temperatures.
