Total Organic Carbon and Total Inorganic Carbon content data of sediment core MD13-3457, Alborán Sea, Marion Dufresne Cruise MD194

DOI

MD13-3457 is a calypso core taken from the East Melilla Mound Province, an area with multiple cold-water coral mounds. Taken from the nearby seafloor, and 20.31m long, it provides a perfect record to compare the common sedimentary system surrounding the mounds (off-mound) with cores taken from the cold-water coral mounds themselves. Here, we provide TIC/TOC measurements from sediment samples, that can be used to calculate organic and inorganic carbon accumulation rates (in combination with our AMS 14C ages). Measurements were conducted using a LECO CS 744 at the Department of Geosciences, University of Bremen, Germany.
