Interdisciplinary Graduate Education and Research in Animal Biotechnology and Coral Reef Fisheries to Achieve Indonesian Food Security.

One of the greatest challenges facing society is how to feed an expanding population and ensure food and nutrition security for all people without destroying the environment. In Indonesia, fisheries provide seafood and economic opportunities for more than 3 million people. There is an urgent need for innovative research in marine systems to ensure Indonesian food security. overall, the project goal is to enable strategically positioned researchers across Indonesia with the tools they need to provide appropriate solutions where coral reef fisheries are of utmost importance for food security and self-sufficiency.
