These measurements are aimed to identify the metallurgical and chemical characteristics of some bronze coins, called ¿nummi¿, strucked under Roman Empire, V century A.D..The experiment is addressed to define and reinforcing numismatic classification and to provide useful data on the nature of employed alloys, termomechanical history of the objects and on the production technology. The Sn content allows to discriminate western from eastern coins , a Sn content higher than 5%, identifies a western production, while the identification of the different phases and residual stresses give information if blanks were hammered or cast. The data will be validated by a semi-destructive SEM-EDS analysis of samples.
