Supplementary data to publication "Effects of milk replacer (MR) meal size on feed intake, growth performance, and blood metabolites and hormones of calves fed MR with or without butyrate ad libitum: A cluster-analytic approach"

DOI

Ad libitum MR-fed calves vary in their feeding behavior and individual feed intake during the preweaning period. This study intended to classify ad libitum MR-fed calves according to their individual voluntary MR intake using a clustering approach. Analysis allowed discriminating two groups of calves with different MR meal size (HIGH; 2.2 ± 0.11 L MR/visit; LOW; 1.8 ± 0.07 L MR/visit). Differences in feeding behaviors were linked to growth performance and metabolic changes.
