Stromatolites Metagenome

Stromatolites are living structures built by microbes (especially cyanobacteria). Shark Bay’s stromatolites (Australia) are 2,000 to 3,000 years old but despite their relative young age they present strong similitudes to life forms 3.5 billion years old. Their importance is related to the fact that stromatolites are a modern picture of what the world looked like billion of years ago.
