Sediment echosounder processed data (Atlas Parasound P70 echosounder working area dataset) of RV MARIA S. MERIAN during cruise MSM84, Labrador Sea

DOI

Four sediment echosounder profiles from three glacial cross-shelf troughs of the Labrador Shelf, namely the Okak, Makkovik and Cartwright troughs, are presented. The data was collected on board the Maria S. Merian during the cruise MSM84 using the Teledyne Parasound P70 parametric sub-bottom echosounder mounted on the hull. A secondary low frequency of 4 kHz was used. Data was converted from the PS3 recording format to the SEGY format using the software ps32sgy written by Hanno Keil (University Bremen). The conversion included mean subtraction, time-domain filtering (pass from 2 to 6 kHz) and calculation of envelopes. The objective of data recording on the Labrador Shelf is to map glacial landforms and reconstruct the dynamics of the Laurentide Ice Sheet in detail.

Ship time for the cruise MSM84 was funded by the DFG under the award MerMet 17-49, Gebhardt, LABRADOR-GLACIALS.
