The vibrational spectrum of C70 has been investigated by many techniques since it became available in significcant quantities. Previous INS spectra were recorded with small quantities, ~250 mg, inside sealed quartz tubes. Both effects resulted in poor quality spectra. Nonetheless, these have been widely used in assignment of the spectrum of C70. The aim of this proposal is to record a high quality INS spectrum concurrently with the Raman spectrum from a large quantity, ~10 g of C70 in order to make a definitive assignment of the spectrum.
