The Ce-based materials CeTX3 (T=transition metal, X= Si, Ge, Al) crystallizing in the noncentrosymmetric BaNiSn3-type structure, have been found to display a wealth of novel phenomena. These include pressure-induced heavy fermion superconductivity, quantum criticality, complex magnetic ordering and vibron-quasibound states. We recently found a new member CeZnAl3 of the CeTX3 series. The heat displayed of CeZnal3 shows the presence of a magnetic transition below around TM = 4.4 K. In an applied field along the c-axis, there is a change from a well defined transition in low fields, to crossover behavior in higher fields. Considering that CeTX3 family of compounds exhibit long range ordering with ordered state moment along the hard axis of CEF with reduced moment value, and not along the easy axis of the CEF, it would be interesting to investigate the magnetic structure of CeZnAl3.
