Rechargeable electroactive microbial biofilms

Rechargeable microbial batteries have been proposed as one the potential applications of bio-electrochemical systems (BESs), in which a single biofilm can generate power and store energy. In this study, we demonstrated the method in development of a biofilm from marine samples collected from North and Baltic Sea capable of bidirectional extracellular electron transfer.
