Investigation of the low temperature, applied field magnetic order in copper-nitrate.

DOI

We propose to fully explore the field induced magnetically ordered phase of copper-nitrate, Cu(NO3)2.2.5D2O, at temperatures below 0.13 K and in fields up to 5 T. The key aims of this proposal are to resolve the unusual asymmetry in the field dependence of magnetic Bragg peaks and clarify the uncertainties about the critical field. The single crystal spectrometer WISH is ideally suited for investigating these magnetic Bragg peaks with high resolution.
