Organic contaminant data from sediment samples, Ny-Ålesund 2022

DOI

In August and September 2022, a sediment sampling and site investigation program was conducted near Ny-Ålesund on Svalbard. With the Bayelva Observatory monitoring permafrost temperatures for over 25 years, the AWIPEV research station serves as an ideal hub for studying the effects of climate change on permafrost degradation. The samples were collected to quantify the presence of organic contaminants in the sediment. These data provide a baseline for modeling organic contaminant distribution in the active layer and the top of the permafrost near Ny-Ålesund, allowing for comparison with other Arctic areas. This data package contains organic contaminant data for 35 samples
