Orbicella faveolata Genome sequencing

Orbicella faveolata (mountainous star coral) is a key reef builder in the Caribbean. As such, it is commonly used in genetic analyses ranging from RNA-sequencing, to gene knockout, to population genetics. As such we wanted to provide a highly contiguous genomic resource that can be utilized by the research community. Here, we have assembled the O. faveolata genome, form sperm of one adult colony, using PacBio long read sequencing. We also present the annotated trasncriptome which again utilized PacBio long read sequencing of adult colonies experiencing a number of different abiotic and biotic stimuli to elicit a full transcriptional picture.
