Isotopic Hafnium data from Upper Cretaceous Barroso and Penderisco Formations and Miocene Beibaviejo Fm. Litho structural units in north-western Colombia.
ZUPb geocrhonology and LuHf isotopic analysis:For detrital samples 100 to 120 zircons were mounted in epoxy resin mounts. For volcanic samples between 15 and 30 grains were mounted depending on the sample yield. Zircons were mounted together with FC-1 standard zircon (Duluth Gabbro). Analyses were performed by LA- MC-ICP-MS using a Nu-Plasma® at the Center for Isotope Geoscience Laboratory in the University of Florida. The zircon grains were ablated with a New Wave® 213 nm ultraviolet laser, using a laser spot size of 20* µm for U/Pb and 40 µm for Hf. Every 10 ablations of unknown zircon samples for U/Pb were bracketed by two ablations of the FC-1 standard. We use the ²⁰⁶Pb/²³⁸U ages for zircons younger than 850 Ma and the ²⁰⁷Pb/²⁰⁶Pb ages for older data. In addition, Hf isotopic measurements were made on the same zircons analyzed for U/Pb. We selected 10 zircons for every age population cluster recorded in the U/Pb analysis considering the error (smallest errors) and grain size. Isotopic data were reduced using CALAMARI (in-house data reduction excel spreadsheet) and then plotted using Isoplot 4.5 (Botero-Garcia et al, 2019).
