Soil invertebrates from the LOEWE TBG and Senckenberg project 'Metagenomic monitoring of soil communities' (MetaInvert)

The MetaInvert database serves to improve species identification through shotgun metagenomics, to reveal evolutionary relationships, special adaptations, and host-microbiome associations. We are developing and adapting molecular approaches to study the structure, composition and functions of hard-to-observe organisms.

Sequences were generated within Senckenberg and the LOEWE Centre for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (TBG) with funding from LOEWE in the MetaInvert project, and as part of the Central-European Soil Invertebrate Genome Initiative (SIGI). The vouchers are deposited in the collections of the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Goerlitz (SMNG), Germany. The species were identified by the taxon experts of SMNG and ECT Oekotoxikologie GmbH, Florsheim, Germany.
