CePd3 is a classic intermediate valence (IV) system. In MAPS experiment 620167 we obtained an important qualitative result for CePd3, namely that the Kondo-like scattering intensity modulates with Q, being strongest at the zone boundary of the Brillouin zone. This may resolve an older controversy concerning the inelastic scattering in this compound. We request further time on MAPS in order to 1) measure a greater range of Q space by orienting the crystal at a different angle, 2) Measure the nonmagnetic background in LaPd3 to facilitate quantitative analysis of the data, and 3) measure at lower energy transfer to search for significant scattering for energy transfer less than 10 meV.
