This project is about bioprospecting of marine microorganisms for identification of strains with genomic features of interest in biotechnology. Primarily, our goal is to divulge biosynthetic gene clusters of secondary metabolites required in microbial interaction such as antimicrobial, host-microbe interaction and/or probiotics. We focus on integrative functional genomics with biochemical, molecular and chemical methods to decipher the applicability of various strains in the development of tangible bioproducts. Our secondary target is the diversity of viruses such as bateriophages with potential application in the control of bacterial growth and multiplication.
