Mind The Gap was founded in 1988 by Tim Wheeler and Susan Brown and has since become one of Europe’s leading disability theatre companies, with operations in both the UK and internationally. The primary aim of Mind the Gap’s extensive team is to create equal opportunities for actors with learning disabilities within the artistic sector. This goal is achieved through training, mutual respect, and the promotion of employment equality, resulting in a “bold, cutting-edge, and world-class artistic program” that has a significant impact locally, regionally, and internationally. Their work challenges, surprises, and excites, all while striving to encourage audiences to think differently.
The ultimate objective is to expand the audience’s perception of theatre, moving beyond traditional arts and theatre venues. Mind The Gap aims to redefine theatre as an art form that can also take shape in various spaces and locations through performances and events.
