Spin fluctuations in heavy fermion system

DOI

A study of the ground state of the Ce5Rh4Sn10 is proposed. Compound belongs to the heavy fermion system with two magnetic phase transitions at 1.4 K and 4.3 K. While the transition at 4.3 leads to antiferromagnetic order, the lower one is probably ferrimagnetic. Muon spin relaxation in zero field should shed some light on the nature of both transitions. Experiment in longitudinal field is supposed to clarify metamagnetic effect observed in magnetization for 300 G. We expect that experiment in transverse field will give the answer concerning fluctuations close to the transition point. We want to see whether transition at 1.4 K has any signatures of unusual scaling typical for quantum critical point.
