Nuclear and magnetic structural investigation of single crystalline and powder α-CoV2O6 on WISH

DOI

Recent single crystal work on α-CoV2O6 has found a significant enhancement of the nuclear Bragg peaks on entering the low temperature antiferromagnetic states. This proposal is aimed at understanding the origin of this either in terms of a k=0 structure or strong magnetoelastic coupling resulting in a release of extinction. We propose to use WISH to measure both single crystals and also powders to obtain a single crystal magnetic refinement at low temperatures and also a structural refinement at higher temperatures. This will be compared with powder measurements.
