This dataset represents a compilation of in situ measurements of ocean spectral remote-sensing reflectance coupled with subsurface measurements of absorption and backscattering coefficients. The data is used in the validation of an inverse model for estimating inherent optical properties of seawater from ocean remote-sensing reflectance, as described in the article:Loisel, H., D. Stramski, D. Dessaily, C. Jamet, L. Li, and R. A. Reynolds. 2018. An inverse model for estimating the optical absorption and backscattering coefficients of seawater from remote-sensing reflectance over a broad range of oceanic and coastal marine environments. Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, doi:10.1002/2017JC013632The measurements in this dataset were collected or compiled by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography Ocean Optics Research Laboratory (https://scripps.ucsd.edu/labs/oceanoptics/), and are referred to in the above article as dataset DS3.
