Neutron diffraction experiments on an Etruscan vase

DOI

An antique vase from an Etruscan necropolis was made available for neutron-based experiments at ISIS. Preliminary studies on this sample have shown unusual features and opened challenging archaeological problems. We plan to perform a series of neutron measurements, comprehending neutron diffraction at GEM and ENGIN-X in order to determine the composition of the vase content, that was revealed to be virtually intact after 2500 years.
