Comparison of D- and H-cross-section anomalies in the non-metallic hydrides YH3 and YD3

DOI

Improved experiments on the two non-metallic hydrides YH3 and YD3 are proposed. Since they have a well developed band gap in their electronic structure they are suitable as a testbed for theories which relate the intensity loss in H- (and D-) scattering to the possible participation of excited electrons in the scattering process. It is hoped that the recent technical improvements of VESUVIO will help to resolve this problem.
