Gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) is a temperate marine coastal finfish that belongs to the Sparidae family, order Perciformes. It is an economically important species highly cultured throughout the Mediterranean area with a high plasticity to farming and challenging environments. Sequencing and assembly of the gilthead sea bream genome aims to characterize and understand its genomic and genetic features.
