Microvolume DNA Extraction Methods for Microscale Amplicon and Metagenomic Studies

Here we present and validate two novel microvolume DNA extraction techniques that employ either i) physical or ii) chemical lysis to rupture cells, facilitating accurate assessment of the taxonomic composition and functional potential of microbial assemblages from samples as little as 1 microliter of seawater.
