Enrichment and isolation of aerobic and anaerobic hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria from the multicontaminated marine sediment of the Mar Piccolo of Taranto (Italy)

The marine sediment from the historical site Mar Piccolo (Taranto, Italy) affected by multiple contaminations, has been characterized and then used to prompt the selection of bacteria able to promote oxidative or reductive PCB dechlorination under saline conditions.
