Hook Ridge sediments (Bransfield Strait, Western Antarctic Peninsula) Metagenome

Applying metagenomic tools to Hook Ridge sediments, Bransfield Strait, Western Antarctic

Peninsula Antarctic, will provide an unprecedented examination of key microbial processes and

their role in a submarine vulcanic edif in a Antartica. These efforts would be the first to

characterize a microbial community process in an Antarctic vents site. We are particularly

interested in the chemolithoautotrophs and their relevance to connections between deep energy

and deep life. PI Vivian Helena Pellizari, University of Sao Paulo
