Optimal fluorination and structure of triple-fluorocarbon-tail surfactants for commercially viable/CO2 microemulsions

DOI

This proposal aims to explore optimal fluorine (F) content and chain architecture in triple-fluorocarbon (FC)-tail surfactants used as CO2-philic solubilizers for water-in-CO2 (W/CO2) microemulsions. It will advance molecular design for cheaper and more environmentally-benign low-F-content surfactants which exhibit high water-solubilizing capacities (water-to-surfactant molar ratio, W0) and/or formation of elongated reversed micelles in W/CO2 systems.
