Candidatus Thioglobus sp. NP1 Genome sequencing

This bacterium was isolated from the Northeast Pacific Ocean at the deep chlorophyll maximum (45 m). It is a member of the SUP05 clade of gammaproteobacteria and closely related to Thioglobus singularis, strain PS1. This group of bacteria are ubiquitous in the world's oceans and have been implicated to play an important role in global carbon and nutrient cycling. This new isolate will help to understand the metabolic diversity within the SUP05 clade.
