Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV SONNE during cruise SO297 using a Kongsberg EM 122 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 24.02.2023 - 11.04.2023 from Talcahuano (Chile) to Guayaquil (Ecuador) in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The major aim of SO297 was to investigate in detail the deep structure offshore Taltal and Copiapó with 2D and 3D refraction experiments to analyze the relationship between deformation behavior and forearc structures using the northern Chilean subduction zone as a type location. Data were recorded within the EEZ of Chile as well as outside EEZs. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. Acquisition and provision of the data are part of the DAM Underway Project and published according to the FAIR principles.
