Bmp6 overexpression in stickleback dental tissue

Bmp6 has been shown to modulate the regeneration of hair. Separately, a correlation between Bmp6 genotypes and tooth number was identified in stickleback fish. Here we used transgenic overexpression of Bmp6 in sticklebacks to ask whether this gene affected the transcript profile of the ventral pharyngeal tooth field during subadult stages when teeth are undergoing cyclic replacement.
