Neutron scattering cross sections tables are a permanent source of reference for all those performing neutron scattering experiments. For this reason, the availability of updated values in accordance with modern neutron scattering capabilities is extremely important. A review of modern tables and evaluates nuclear data files, shows that surprisingly, Calcium has a rather poorly determined scattering cross section. The reason for this circumstance must be sought in the hygroscopic nature of Calcium compounds that make measured transmission cross sections affected by the hydrogen signal, and also the limited availability of epithermal neutron sources. VESUVIO allows the simultaneous measurement of transmission and electron-volt spectroscopy, that can be employed as a non destructive mass spectrometer. We propose to measure the Calcium scattering cross section in different compounds.
